Welcome to Comuna 8 in Medellin, Colombia. Join us for an unforgettable community walking tour and a unique coffee farm experience and discover the transformation of Barrio La Sierra, once one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city of Medellin. An authentic cultural experience completely off the beaten path in the hillside barrios of Medellin.
The Urban Coffee Tour in Barrio La Sierra provides guests and foreign travelers with a unique cultural experience far from the traditional tourists attractions in the city. We host adventerous travelers on a fascinationg journey as we walk through the streeets of La Sierra community, learn about its violent past, climb about 577 steps to the top and take in the incredible panoramic views overlooking the city, ahead of our final destination.
Once we arrive at the coffee farm, which is tucked away in the lush green mountainside, guests will get the opportunity to learn all about producing artisanal coffee, the entire growing process, starting from how the coffee seeds are planted, to picking, roasting and grinding, all of which is demonstrated on the family coffee farm in Barrio La Sierra.

Unique Experience and Amazing Coffee
We were lucky enough to be the first guests on this tour, and it was *by far* the high point of our trip to Medellin. It's definitely a tour for those looking for something adventurous and outside of the usual tourist circuit.
The coffee farm you'll visit grows and processes the beans onsite in very small batches...and the coffee is some of the best I've ever tasted, truly. We brought a little back home and wished we'd brought a ton more.
Arturo, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable, kind, prepared, and respectful of the neighborhood and its citizens. He's worked hard to create ties within the community, and to be engaged in local initiatives. We felt very safe and in good hands with Arturo, and really enjoyed meeting the locals whom he's developed relationships with.
Can't say enough good stuff about this experience. Highly recommended!
